I have a soft spot for Universal's classic "Creature from the Black Lagoon".  This movie is such a blatant ripoff tribute to that classic...I refer to it as "Amelie meets the Creature"...that I have to wonder if Universal pondered trademark infringement.


It's something way more than Creature, of course.  It's a visual and aural feast and a beautiful love story with characters that have far more depth.

Probably my second favorite del Toro feature behind "Hellboy II: The Golden Army".
